Keep reading to learn our favorite tips and tricks to get the house ready for summer.

Check Appliances and HVAC

There are few things as frustrating as trying to use something that has broken without you knowing it. Especially if it's on a weekend when a lot of stores and services are closed! While there are some emergency technicians available, it's best to prepare ahead of time and prevent major issues before they even happen.

Check-in on your refrigerator, freezer, oven, washer and dryer, dishwasher, and HVAC to make sure everything is running smoothly. If any of these appliances have a self-cleaning feature, be sure to run them to remove any limescale buildup or other debris that could cause issues. For some parts of the house - like your HVAC - it's probably a good idea to have a professional come out and check on how well everything is working before it becomes an emergency.

Fix Up the Outside

Being outside is one of the best parts of the Lake of the Ozarks. The scenery is beautiful and the sunshine feels great after a long winter spent inside. Make the outside of your house feel more welcoming by making sure the gutters have been cleaned, the roof hasn't sustained any hail or wind damage, and that the landscaping and yard design look great. One of the best ways to literally put a new shine on your backyard is to re-stain the deck. Stain wears off from weather and sun exposure over time. A brand new coat can make the whole house feel fresher!

Air Out the House

Before the summer heat hits us in earnest, it can be a good idea to air out the house and remove stuffy odors, dust, etc. that have accumulated from being shut for so long. Open your windows and doors with screens to allow a cross-breeze throughout the house. You can even plug in a few box fans and turn on ceiling fans to help move it along.

Enjoy Your Summer Lake House

The Lake of the Ozarks is an incredible place to be any time of the year, but we are particularly fond of the summertime. The Lake comes to life with boating, shopping, great seasonal restaurants, and so much more! If you are looking to invest in a vacation home at the Lake of the Ozarks, now could be the perfect time.
